And here's a problem revealed after the survey... a bad
fiberglass repair job. The previous owner had used polyester resin
instead of epoxy, and it failed in several places. Here, the paint
on top held up fine, but just beneath the surface the resin was
completely cracked and brittle. a gentle poke with the knife and
it went all the way in! This area would have to be ground out
and filled with epoxy.
